Women's Basketball Wraps Up Successful BIG EAST Media Day

[4:37 p.m.] Head coach Terri Mitchell and Angel Robinson returned from a successful BIG EAST Media Day Thursday afternoon at ESPN Zone in Times Square where league officials announced the preseason coaches poll as well as the Preseason All-BIG EAST Team. Robinson was one of three unanimous selections to the Preseason All-BIG EAST Team. It also marks the second consecutive season Marquette has had a player unanimously selected to the Preseason All-BIG EAST Team.
Robinson is in good company as the other two unanimous selections were Connecticut's Maya Moore, who was also named the league's Preseason Player of the Year, and Tina Charles. Both earned All-America accolades and All-BIG EAST First Team honors in 2008-09.
The conference coaches picked the Golden Eagles to finish 10th in the league.
At ESPN Zone, Mitchell and Robinson met with about 100 members of the media from across the nation. They also fulfilled video interview responsibilities with BIG EAST TV (ESPN Regional), CBS College Sports, SportsNet New York, Inside the BIG EAST and BIG EAST.tv.
Mitchell and Robinson returned to Milwaukee just in time for practice.

About being picked 10th...
"I never worry about where we are being picked because it's what you do at the end of the season that counts. I understand why were picked 10th. We graduated our all-time leading scorer and last season we didn't live up to our expectations. But it is a new season and this team is focused. We have a very small focus to work hard and improve every day, and the rest will take care of itself. We are excited and we are ready. We can't wait till that first game on Nov. 14 and then it is one game at a time. We need to get through the non-conference portion of our season before we can worry about BIG EAST play."
About Angel Robinson being one of three unanimous All-BIG EAST Preseason Team selections...
"It's outstanding that Angel has that kind of respect from across the league. We have always known that Angel is pretty special, but she would be the first to tell you that all she cares about is the team winning. Where it is a great personal accomplishment for her, her total focus is on the team, winning and how raise the level of the play around her each and every day. Angel deserves all of the attention and accolades she receives and will continue to receive across the country. But, the biggest accolade leading our team back to the NCAA Tournament. "
