MILWAUKEE - Sophomore outside hitter Ashley Beyer was named to the BIG EAST Conference Honor Roll, the league announced Monday afternoon. It is the first such honor of her career.
Beyer helped the Golden Eagles (15-9, 4-5 BIG EAST) stay in the hunt for a spot in the conference tournament by toppling Syracuse Saturday afternoon, 3-1. Marquette also defeated Green Bay Wednesday afternoon in a non-conference match.
Beyer recorded 39 kills in eight sets over the weekend, for an average of 4.88 per set. She has registered double-digit kills in 11 of the last 12 contests, while registering career highs in blocks and service aces.
It marks the third time this season that a Marquette volleyball player has earned league recognition. Ciara Jones (Sept. 7) and Nikki Klingsporn (Sept. 14), following MVP performances at the Marquette Invitational and Panther Invitational, respectively, were the others to earn the honor.
