MILWAUKEE - Marquette junior guard Angel Robinson has been named to the 2009-10 Naismith Trophy Preseason Watch List presented by AT&T. The Naismith Trophy is the most prestigious national award presented annually to college basketball's players of the year.
Robinson, a unanimous All-BIG EAST Preseason selection, is one of eight players on the list who represent the BIG EAST.
Robinson led the Golden Eagles with 13.9 points per game (15.9 ppg in BIG EAST play) and was the team's second leading rebounder pulling down 5.0 rebounds per game (5.8 rpg in BIG EAST play) for the 2008-09 season.
This season Robinson is currently averaging 10.7 ppg, 5.3 rpg and 4.0 apg through the Golden Eagles first three contests.
She is 110 points shy of becoming the 21st player in program history to hit the 1,000 point mark.
The watch list was compiled by the Atlanta Tipoff Club's Board of Selectors, which based its criteria on player performances from the previous year and expectations for the 2009-10 college basketball season. The Naismith Trophy presented by AT&T will be awarded at the 2010 NCAA Women's Final Four in San Antonio, Texas.
In late February, the Atlanta Tipoff Club's Board of Selectors will compile a mid-season team of the Top 30 players in the nation. Then in March, the Naismith Trophy voting academy will vote to narrow the list to the four finalists.
