CANCUN, Mexico -
[8:38 p.m.] The Marquette women's basketball travel party arrived safely in Cancun, Mexico Tuesday afternoon for the 2009 Caribbean Challenge at the Moon Palace Resort.
The Golden Eagles had an early morning wake-up call to catch its flight out of O'Hare, but it was all worth it when they were welcomed in Cancun with sunny skies and temperatures in the mid-80s.
Following check-in to the all-inclusive resort, Marquette had a 90-minute practice in the Universal Building which actually is the resort's expo center. Terri Mitchell, her staff and players all agreed it was a first to practice in a ballroom where hardwood was above the room's carpet and banquet chairs served as a bench.
Despite being a bit sleep deprived, the Golden Eagles had a very productive and spirited practice.
On deck for tomorrow is another practice at 8 a.m., followed by breakfast and some fun in the sun before the Golden Eagles get down to business Thursday against Cleveland State.
