CANCUN, Mexico -
[5:13 p.m.] The Marquette women's basketball team enjoyed its first full day in Cancun, Mexico today before it starts play in the Caribbean Challenge Thursday.
The Golden Eagles lucked out with the earliest practice time, 8 a.m., in the ballroom that serves as a practice gym for all of the teams participating.
Following another productive and energized practice in which the Golden Eagles finalized preparations for both Cleveland State and Duke, they ate breakfast and got ready to go jet skiing. However, Mother Nature threw a small wrench at them when, around 11:30 a.m., it started to pour outside. The team still went despite the less than ideal conditions, but given the weather, no video or photos from the activity are available.
After jet skiing the players ate lunch and lounged by the pool dodging raindrops. The team also had mandatory study hall that began at 4:30 p.m.
The sun finally came back out around 4:30 p.m. today. Too bad the sun sets so early.
On tonight's agenda includes dinner, film at 6 p.m., and the opportunity to watch the men's tournament championship Kentucky versus Stanford in the arena ballroom.
Editor's Note: Video coordinator Drew Smith is 2-for-2 in his half-court shot attempts in the practice gym ballroom. He will go for three straight makes in the arena ballroom tomorrow at shoot around.
