Golden Eagles to Host NJIT Thursday

The Marquette women's basketball team returns to the friendly confines of the Al McGuire Center Thursday, Dec. 3, at 7 p.m. to host New Jersey Institute of Technology. The game can be heard live on WJYI 1340 AM with Kent Sommerfeld calling the action. WMUR will also be streaming a live online broadcast.
Thursday night is senior citizen night at the Al McGuire Center. All adults ages 55 and older receive half-price admission and concessions.
Marquette returns to action following a 1-1 showing at the Caribbean Challenge in Cancun, Mexico where it defeated Cleveland State 69-66, but fell to No. 10/12 Duke 74-43.
Overall through six games, senior Lauren Thomas-Johnson leads the team with 11.0 points per game, followed by Jessica Pachko with 10.8 ppg. Pachko is also averaging a team best 7.8 rebounds per game, while roommate Georgie Jones has pulled down 6.3 rpg. Pachko has pulled down double figure rebounds in two games this season, including 10 against Duke.
The Highlanders, who are in their first season as active full members of NCAA Division I, return seven letterwinners and their top three scorers from last season in which they registered an 8-21 overall record. NJIT is a member of the Great West Conference.
Junior guard Jessica Gerald was named to the All-Great West Conference Preseason First Team, and currently leads the team with 15.2 points per game.
The Highlanders are 2-4 overall with their two wins coming over Maine and Wagner.
