Golden Eagles Host Canisius Monday

The Marquette women's basketball team returns to the warm and friendly confines of the Al McGuire Center Monday, Dec. 21, at 7 p.m. to host Canisius. The game can be heard on WJYI 1340 am with Kent Sommerfeld calling all of the action.
Monday night is Christmas at "The Al." Bring a new stuffed animal to toss at a target during half time and win a prize. All stuffed animals will be donated to Children's Hospital of Wisconsin.
The Golden Eagles (7-4) will be looking to rebound from a 65-48 loss at No. 23/24 Green Bay Saturday night. Junior guard Angel Robinson led Marquette with 16 points. Robinson is 18 points shy of becoming the 21st player in program history to score 1,000 points in her career.
Marquette is 5-0 all-time against Canisius, but have the two teams have not played each other since Nov. 24, 1996 when head coach Terri Mitchell picked up her first career win in the form of a 108-93 victory in the Howard Bank Classic on Nov. 24, 1996.
Canisius (5-4) enters play against Marquette after back-to-back setbacks to Duquesne and Bowling Green.
Brittane Russell leads the Golden Griffins with 12.9 points per game, while Ellie Radke has contributed 12.3 points and a team-high 5.3 rebounds per game.
Marquette will close out non-conference play at UW-Milwaukee on Dec. 29
