Track and Field Concludes Action at Hoosier Hills Invitational

MILWAUKEE - The Marquette track and field squad finished up competition Friday evening at the Hoosier Hills Invitational at Indiana University.
"We had a couple of new BIG EAST qualifiers; Kelley (Corcoran), Mike (Heim), Jon (Kusowski), and Jessi (Ehlen) had some great thows," said head coach Bert Rogers. "The throwers really came to play tonight"
On the women's side, Kelly Corcoran reached personal bests in the shot put and the weight throw, reaching 12.92 meters (42-04.75) and 15.53 meters (50-11.50) in each event, respectively. Jessica Ehlen put in an impressive performance in the weight throw recording a distance of 17.94 meters (58-10.25).
Dani Owen finished fourth in the mile, crossing in 5:07.14, while Kristin Pelzel finished ninth in 5:17.25. In the high jump, Marisa Handley finished sixth with a height of 1.60 meters (5-03.00). In the 800, Katlin Millin finished third, as did Liz Wilkie in the pole vault.
Freshman Billy Schlottke turned in a solid preformance in the 800, crossing the line eighth in 1:57:57.
For the men in the weight throw, Michael Heim and Jonathan Kusowski led the way with throws of 15.59 and 16.56 meters, respectively.
The Golden Eagles return to action next weekend at the BIG EAST Indoor Championships in New York City.
