Men's Tennis Defeats Valparaiso, 7-0

MILWAUKEE -- The Marquette University men's tennis team defeated Valparaiso, 7-0, Saturday afternoon at the Helfaer Tennis Stadium.
In doubles action, the duo of senior Stephen Shao and junior Dusan Medan pulled out an 8-4 victory over Alex Lau and Tom Litscher to improve to 3-0 on the season in the No. 1 doubles spot.
Mark Rutherford and Johnathan Schwerin also won their match 8-4 and the tandem of Niko Boulieris and J.T. Christian made quick work of the Crusaders, capturing an 8-1 win to seal the doubles point for the Golden Eagles.
In singles play, Medan improved his record this season to 4-1 in the No. 1 spot with a 6-1, 7-6 victory over Lau.
Playing in the second slot, Boulieris moved his No. 2 singles record to 3-0 by defeating Litscher, 6-3, 6-3 and Mark Rutherford also remained unbeaten (6-0) in the No. 4 singles spot.
The Golden Eagles (10-6) return to action Sunday afternoon at home against Northern Illinois at 1 p.m.
