Golden Eagles Opened the 2026-27 Season at the Milwaukee Tennis Classic and Youngstown State Invitational
MILWAUKEE – The Marquette men's tennis team opened its fall campaign this weekend at the Milwaukee Tennis Classic and the Youngstown State Invitational.
At the Milwaukee Tennis Classic, Kristian Blagoev picked up a singles victory for the Golden Eagles, defeating Drew Evans of Western Michigan, 7-5, 6-1.
Clayton Anderson recorded two singles victories during the weekend. He opened with a 7-5, 7-5 win over George Cutone of Navy before earning his second victory against Marshall Landry of Michigan State, 7-6 (5), 6-4.
The duo of Blagoev and Anderson also secured a doubles victory, defeating Curzio Manucci and Pratyaksh Lnu of Northern Illinois, 6-4.
The Marquette men's tennis team also found success in both singles and doubles competition this weekend at the Youngstown State Invitational.
In singles action, Chadwick Anderson earned a straight-set victory over Youngstown State's Alex Woiten, 6-3, 6-4.
Luke Coppage delivered a dominant performance, blanking Mercyhurst's Julius Damaske, 6-0, 6-0.
The Golden Eagles also picked up singles victories against Mercyhurst opponents. Evan Glebov defeated Derek Winsnes, 6-3, 7-6, while Marcos Vazquez earned a 7-6 (3), 6-2 victory over Danial Stadler.
Marquette also recorded two doubles victories. Remi St-Laurent and Evan Solheim defeated Indiana University Indianapolis' Brandon Pham and Ellison Minnaar, 6-2. Hugh Perrill and Glebov followed with a 6-3 victory over Mercyhurst's David Mengher and Damaske.
