MILWAUKEE - The Marquette University women's volleyball program and head coach Bond Shymansky have announced the signing of prep standout Lindsey Gosh (Oconomowoc, Wis./Oconomowoc HS) to a National Letter of Intent.
"Today is a great day for Marquette Volleyball as we ink the best volleyball talent in the state of Wisconsin," Shymansky said. "Lindsey Gosh has a fantastic future waiting for her at Marquette with high expectations of becoming one of the most dominant players in the BIG EAST Conference."
The 6-foot right-side hitter was recently named the 2010 Wisconsin Little Ten Conference Player of the Year and was a first team all-conference selection in both 2009 and 2010. She was also named to the Wisconsin Volleyball Coaches Association All-State First Team in 2010.
As a senior at Oconomowoc High School, Gosh was named to the AVCA/Under Armour All-America Watch List and led the squad with 435 kills for an average 4.7 per set, while also notching 132 blocks (1.4 per set) and 265 digs (2.9 per set).
"Anyone who watches Lindsey play can see the obvious talents," said Shymansky. "She jumps high, hits hard, and has incredible control at the net. As a head coach looking for players to build a championship program, I can see more than that in Lindsey's game.
"Her passing is fluid, her jump serve is dynamic, and her back-row hitting power is impressive. She is a rare player who can actually play both front row and back row. Players like Lindsey are scarce in today's game."
Gosh, a left-hander, comes to Marquette as the No. 66-ranked player on PrepVolleyball.com's 2011 Top 100 Senior Aces list, and is one of the highest ranked players in the state of Wisconsin.
As a member of the Capital Volleyball Academy in Madison, Wis., Gosh earned 2010 AAU All-American honors, while helping Capital to a fifth-place finish in the 18 Open division at the AAU Junior National Championships.
Gosh will have four years of eligibility as a Golden Eagle when she steps on campus in the Fall of 2011.
