Golden Eagles Use 24-0 Run To Rally Past Bison
Trailing 57-45 with 10:22 remaining in the second half against Bucknell, the Golden Eagles put together an impressive 24-0 run to take control of the game.
A layup by junior forward Jae Crowder got things started for MU, which didn't allow the Bison to add to their game total until netting a free throw with 1:41 left in regulation and the Golden Eagles up 12 points.
Freshman forward Davante Gardner scored eight of his 11 points on the afternoon during that time frame and senior guard Dwight Buycks, who scored a game-high 17 points, chipped in seven points. Newcomer Vander Blue hit a big 3-pointer to close the gap to one point after scoring a layup.
Wardle, Barone Return To Bradley Center With Phoenix
The Green Bay bench will feature a pair of familiar faces to Marquette fans on Wednesday night, as former players Brian Wardle and Brian Barone return to the Bradley Center as members of the Green Bay coaching staff.
Wardle is in his first season as head coach with the Phoenix and remains the program's seventh all-time leading scorer (1,690 points). He is still in MU's top-10 in five different categories and served as director of basketball operations at Marquette for two seasons (2003-05) under head coach Tom Crean.
Barone was a two-year letterwinner at Marquette after transferring from Texas A&M. He was a Conference USA All-Academic Team member and served as team captain during his tenure. He served on MU's staff under Crean in 2007-08 and has previously returned as a visitor to face MU while an assistant at Illinois State (2004-05).
