Marquette Hosts UNC-Asheville Saturday

MILWAUKEE - After a five-day break for final exams, the Marquette women's basketball team returns to action Saturday, Dec. 18 against UNC-Asheville at the Al McGuire Center. The 7 p.m. tip-off can be seen live on GoMarquette.com's multimedia platform, MUTube, with Kent Sommerfeld and Kyle Dlabay calling the action.
Saturday is Christmas at "The Al." Fans are encouraged to bring a new or gently used toy to donate to the Salvation Army. All fans who donate a toy receive $2 admission.
The Golden Eagle will be dressed like Santa and will be available for pictures with children.
In its last time out, Marquette defeated then-No. 23/17 Green Bay, 63-60, at the Al McGuire Center on Dec. 12. The Golden Eagles led by as many as 15 points and never trailed in the win. Angel Robinson, who was named to the BIG EAST Weekly Honor Roll Monday, scored 14 points in the win.
UNC-Asheville enters the game at Marquette on a two-game win streak with victories over Furman (86-75) and South Carolina State (84-69). Kendall Shepard leads the Bulldogs with 18.1 points per game, while Kelli Riles is averaging a double-double with 13.0 points and 11.9 rebounds per game.
The Bulldogs return three starters from last season's team that went 8-22. They were selected to finish eighth in the Big South this season.
Saturday's game will be the first meeting between the Golden Eagles and Bulldogs.
