MILWAUKEE - The Marquette University women's basketball team is set to host Illinois for its final game before the Christmas holiday Tuesday, Dec. 21 at the Al McGuire Center. The Noon tip-off can be seen live on GoMarquette.com's multimedia platform, MUTube with Kent Sommerfeld and Kyle Dlabay calling the action.
Over 3,000 Milwaukee Public School students representing 25 schools will be in attendance Tuesday afternoon for the Golden Eagles' MPS Day. The game will serve as an educational field trip for elementary and middle school students enrolled in the Milwaukee Public School System.
Marquette last hosted Oregon on MPS Day on Dec. 17, 2008 and defeated the Ducks, 69-39, in front of a packed house.
The Golden Eagles will look to extend their nine-game win streak which dates back to the 2009-10 season against the Illini.
Behind Courtney Weibel's program record eight 3-pointers, Marquette easily defeated UNC-Asheville, 75-46, in its last time out Saturday evening. Weibel finished the game with a career-best 24 points in 22 minutes of action and was named to the BIG EAST Weekly Honor Roll Monday for her effort.
The honor roll nod is the first of her career and she is the third Golden Eagle to earn the honor this season.
