MILWAUKEE -- Fans of the Marquette Golden Eagles men's soccer team will get another look at their team in action this preseason when MU hosts the University of Wisconsin-Parkside at 7:05 p.m. CT this Tuesday, Aug. 24 at Valley Fields.
There will be free admission to the game while those unable to attend can follow along with live stats on . Live streaming audio will also be provided courtesy of WMUR Marquette Radio.
Head coach Louis Bennett's squad opened the 2010 exhibition slate with a 1-0 victory Saturday over the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater. Sophomore forward Andy Huftalin scored the game-winning goal in the 49th minute and goalkeepers Keenan Flynn and David Check combined for the shutout.
Tuesday's match versus the Rangers is the second of three preseason contests for the Golden Eagles prior to their regular-season opener Sept. 1 against the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee. MU travels to Kentucky for a final tune-up match this Friday, Aug. 27.
Injuries have kept a few key players sidelined through the first full week of training. But Bennett hinted after Saturday's win over UW-Whitewater that spectators on Tuesday may see some of those individuals back on the pitch, namely senior midfielder Anthony Colaizzi, who suffered an injury in the PDL Championship game last month.
Also, sophomore forward Chris Madsen is expected to return to the lineup. Madsen, last year's leading goal scorer, played in the Blue vs. Gold game last Tuesday, but sat out against UW-Whitewater due to injury.
