Men's Soccer Opens BIG EAST Play Friday at Rutgers

PISCATAWAY, N.J. -- Friday marks the opening of BIG EAST Conference play for the Marquette University men's soccer team who will travel to Rutgers to face the Scarlet Knights with kickoff slated for 7 p.m. CT at Yurcak Field.
MU comes into the contest with an overall record of 1-3-2 while Rutgers is unbeaten in its last four matches at 3-1-1 on the season.
Live stats and live streaming video will be available free of charge at scarletknights.com. The game will also be televised regionally on tape delay on FiOS1 Sports (N.J./Long Island, N.Y.).
KEY STORYLINES
- Friday's match at Rutgers marks the opening of the BIG EAST portion of the season for both teams ... Marquette is 0-3-2 in BIG EAST openers since joining the 16-member conference at the start of the 2005 season.
- Marquette has faced Rutgers just one time previous to Friday's BIG EAST opener ... The Scarlet Knights defeated MU 1-0 at Yurcak Field back in 2007.

- MU attempted a season-high 19 shots in the match while the Wolverines took a total of 32 shots, the most by an MU opponent since the 2008 season.
EVERYDAY HERRERA
- Marquette junior Amilcar Herrera has appeared in 41 consecutive games which is every match of his collegiate career ... He was one of two MU players, and the only returning Golden Eagle, to see action in all 18 games last season ... Herrera also played in all 17 games in 2008, one of three freshmen to do so.
