Mamalat Continues Winning Ways At ITA All-American

Marquette sophomore Dan Mamalat picked up a pair of wins Sunday afternoon at the 2011 ITA Men's All-American Championships in Tulsa, Okla., earning a spot in the event's qualifying draw on Monday.
The Philadelphia, Pa., native has yet to drop a set on the weekend after two more straight-set victories. Mamalat defeated Forberg Skogeng of Mississippi 6-4, 6-4 before holding off George Washington's Ulrik Thomsen 7-5, 6-3. Skogeng was a seeded competitor in the qualifying bracket.
Marquette junior Jose Carlos Gutierrez Crowley was placed into the qualifying draw and will also compete on Monday, marking his first action of the weekend. Gutierrez Crowley and Mamalat will also take to the court in doubles competition.
The remainder of the squad wrapped up play Sunday at the Ball State Fall Invitational in Muncie, Ind. Freshman Cameron Tehrani collected a pair of wins to claim the consolation title of the Cardinal draw. Tehrani downed Stephen McLoughlin of Butler 6-1, 6-2 in the semifinals before defeating IUPUI's Armaan Choudary 6-3, 6-1.
In doubles competition, junior Otavio Perim and freshman James Stark dropped a tough 9-7 decision to a duo from Louisville in the title match of the Flight A draw.
