Stan Anderson, associate head coach of the Marquette University men's soccer team, was recognized as one of the top assistant coaches in college soccer by College Soccer News on Monday. The award is handed out annually by College Soccer News to the top assistant coaches across the country for outstanding performance.
Coach Anderson just completed his fifth season as associate head coach by helping the Golden Eagles reach the BIG EAST tournament for the second consecutive season. Anderson focuses on coaching the Marquette goalkeepers, recruiting, and community relations.
"I think it's really great that he gets recognized," said head coach Louis Bennett. " I know all the hard work he does on a day-to-day basis and he deserves to be honored for it." Anderson and Bennett's relationship dates back to their time at University Wisconsin-Milwaukee, where the two coached for 10 season prior to their arrival at Marquette.
Joining Anderson in the 2011 selection class are nineteen of the top assistants from around the country, including three fellow BIG EAST coaches. B.J. Craig (Notre Dame), John Deeley (Connecticut) and Mario Sanchez (Louisville).
