MILWAUKEE - Marquette University women's soccer head coach Markus Roeders has announced the signing class of 2011. Nine student-athletes have committed to continue their academic and athletic endeavors at Marquette University starting in the fall. The class boasts teammates from regional club champions, plentiful Olympic Development Program (ODP) experience and academically accomplished student-athletes.
The incoming class includes Shalese Miller (Boise, Idaho), Haley Fritzlen (Kansas City, Mo.), Jacie Jermier (McFarland, Wis.), Maggie Edlebeck (Waupaca, Wis.), Elizabeth Bollinger (Medina, Ohio), Allie Hieb (San Diego, Calif.), Gabby Kailas (Mequon, Wis.), Mary Luba (Shorewood, Wis.) and Mady Vicker (Whitefish Bay, Wis.).
"We are thrilled to add this group of outstanding women to our program and have them compete for Marquette University," Roeders said. "They are great students; we love their personalities and they will make our Marquette family even more special. Each young lady has unique qualities as a soccer player and they all love the game. Their profiles as players are terrific as they have learned and competed for many of the elite clubs in the country, and have been coached by club coaches who know how to prepare players for the collegiate level. All of them have competed for state, regional and national championships. They love to win and we expect them make a smooth transition to our style of play.
"They will quickly learn what it takes to compete for one of the elite teams in the country. They are hard working, excited and are eager to learn, which is perfect for our environment. Considering that Mady Vicker and Gabby Kailas are siblings of two of our current players, our family is growing in the truest sense. These ladies will help us build on our past successes and open new and exciting doors."
Gabby Kailas
Midfielder/Defender
Mequon, Wis.
Homestead/FC Milwaukee
Along with a number of incoming Golden Eagles, Kailas played on FC Milwaukee's ECNL squad under head coach Christian Lavers. Although limited in her play over the past year due to injuries, she has been a mainstay on a team that has had outstanding success at many of the elite tournaments in the country. Her squad has multiple state titles and finished as high as the No. 7 team in the nation last summer. Kailas focused on year-around training with FC Milwaukee and was also a member of the Wisconsin ODP state team in 2007-08. Her sister, Sammy, is a sophomore on the team.
Christian Lavers (FC Milwaukee) on Gabby Kailas: "Gabby is a left-sided player with the ability to play as either an attacking or defensive player. She reads the game very well, and is capable of impacting the game in both penalty boxes. She is coming back from a long-term injury now, but will be an asset to Marquette as she comes back into form."
Gabby Kailas on why she chose Marquette: "I chose Marquette because I wanted to be part of a winning tradition and a family. At Marquette, I believe I will excel on and off the field."

Holland Hansen (San Diego Surf) on Hieb: "Allie has been a great player for our team over the years, as she is a leader both on and off the field. Her dedication to the game shows in her communication and play while on the field. A phenomenal weapon and game changer in either box, Allie has tremendous soccer attributes and has been a key player in our back four as we compete on a national level. She has great skills, great vision, great attitude, and displays a joy for the game."
Allie Hieb on why she chose Marquette: "My perfect University was a medium-sized private school with an excellent reputation, a lovely campus, and located in a nice mid-sized city. I wanted a great academic school that had an excellent soccer program and coaches with whom I felt comfortable. Marquette clearly met and exceeded all my desires and expectations for the perfect school."
Shalese Miller
Forward
Boise, Idaho
Mountain View/Boise Capitals/FC Nova
A four-year letter winner at Mountain View High School, Miller scored 40 goals, including six hat tricks, during her senior campaign and led her team to a second-place finish in the state tournament. She became the first player in Idaho high school soccer history to eclipse the 100 goals mark, and concluded her career with 116 career goals. Miller received first team all-conference honors and Gatorade Player of the Year nominations three consecutive seasons in 2008-10. As a member of the Boise Capitals, FC Nova, Les Bois and Idaho ODP, Miller helped her teams to two state titles (2007, 2010) as well as capturing US Club Regional I championships in 2007 and 2009.
Shalese Miller on why she chose Marquette: "Moving from Boise, Idaho to Milwaukee is an extreme change for many people but for me an opportunity of a lifetime that I couldn't turn down. I love the city, the school and I am beyond thrilled to play soccer for the Golden Eagles. The coaches are amazing and I am sure all the girls are too. I feel I can do well at Marquette, as it has much to offer."

Fritzlen hails from Notre Dame de Sion High School and is coached by former Marquette players Matt Darby and Carolyn (Klopp) Darby. A two-time co-captain, she helped lead her high school to a state championship in 2008 and back-to-back third place finishes in 2009-10. During her sophomore and junior seasons, Fritzen was named a first team all-district and all-state selection, while also receiving a spot on the MOKAN all-tournament team. Following her junior season, Fritzlen received Missouri's Defensive Player of the Year honors and was named to the NSCAA All-Region Midwest Team. Her club team, KCFC Alliance, won five straight Kansas State Cup Championships from 2005-2010. After leading KCFC to the Region II title in 2006, Fritzlen helped it capture the title again in 2008 and earn a berth to Nationals.
Huw Williams (KCFC Alliance) on Fritzlen: "I have had the pleasure of coaching Haley for the past nine years. Marquette is getting an intelligent soccer player who is very tactically astute. She reads the game very well and one of her biggest strengths is her ability to anticipate the opposition's play. She has a calm demeanor off the field and that carries over to her play on the field. She is a player who will maintain her composure both when defending and starting attacks from the back. Her calmness will have a very positive effect on her teammates. Haley has the chance to make a great impact as a collegiate soccer player and a student-athlete that the Golden Eagles will be very proud of."
Haley Fritzlen on why she chose Marquette: "I chose Marquette because it has everything that I was looking for; great education, close to family, and an awesome soccer program. The family atmosphere created by the coaches and players is something that is not equaled anywhere else."

Christian Lavers (FC Milwaukee) on Jermier: "Jacie is a gifted left-footed player who is very dangerous in 1v1 situations, and a good finisher.
