Butler To Participate In All-Star Game, Portsmouth Invitational

Senior forward Jimmy Butler of the Marquette University men's basketball team will represent the Golden Eagles at a pair of postseason events, beginning with the Reese's College All-Star Game on Friday, April 1.
Sponsored by the National Association of Basketball Coaches (NABC), the game features the top senior student-athletes in the country and will be played on the Final Four court in Reliant Stadium at 4:30 p.m. CT on Friday afternoon. truTV will provide live broadcast coverage. The game follows the open practice sessions conducted by the four remaining programs in search of the national title.
The Tomball, Texas native, will be joined on the East Team by bellow BIG EAST standouts Dwight Hardy (St. John's), Brad Wanamaker (Pittsburgh), Austin Freeman (Georgetown) and Gary McGhee (Pittsburgh).
In 2010, former MU standout Lazar Hayward participated in the game at Lucas Oil Stadium. He finished with a game-high 23 points on 8-of-14 shooting from the field, including a 5-of-9 effort from long distance. Hayward also chipped in seven rebounds and a steal in just 24 minutes of action.
Butler has also been invited to the 59th Annual Portsmouth Invitational Tournament, which features the top 64 senior men's basketball players in the country. The players are divided into eight teams, with games conducted from April 6-9. The event, which is attended by professional scouts from around the world, concludes with a tournament on the final day of action. Final rosters will be announced later in the week.
