MU Enjoys Successful First Day At Wildcat Invite

The Marquette University men's tennis team enjoyed a successful opening day at the 2012 Wildcat Invite on Friday afternoon, hosted by Northwestern University in Evanston, Ill.
Sophomore Vukasin Teofanovic and junior Dan Mamalat both posted quick straight-set wins in the Flight A singles draw and will return to the court Saturday morning. Freshman Javier Varela Hernani and sophomore David Packowitz did the same in Flight B and as a result earned a spot in the quarterfinals.
Sophomore James Stark also downed his opponent from Toledo in an extra match, 6-2, 6-3.
MU's lineup featured a trio of doubles tandems and the duo of Teofanovic/Mamalat claimed a spot in the semifinals with two victories on Friday. They will return to action Saturday afternoon for a chance to advance to the title matchup.
