NOTRE DAME, Ind. - Jack Hackett capped a solid showing by the Marquette men's and women's track and field teams at the Meyo Invitational by winning the men's mile Saturday afternoon with the third-fastest time in Marquette history. The meet, hosted by the University of Notre Dame at the Loftus Sports Center, is in its 25th year.
"It was a great meet for us in terms of moving up our all-time top-10 list and notching new personal bests," Marquette head coach Bert Rogers said. "Jack Hackett ran very well today in the men's mile. He was by himself for the latter stages of the race and put up a really fast time. He ran within himself and finished strong."
Hackett recorded a time of 4:06.69 to win the mile by almost two seconds. The Port Washington, Wis., native still remains behind Dave Uhrich (4:03.00) and Keith Hanson (4:04.84) in Marquette history.
