The Marquette University men's tennis team will participate in the 35th Annual Ball State Fall Invitational this weekend (Oct. 4-6) in Muncie, Ind.
The Golden Eagles will be represented by senior Logon Collins, junior Cameron Tehrani and freshmen Nick Dykema and Kristiyan Trukov. The tournament includes two draws of 32 singles players and a pair of brackets featuring 16 doubles teams. Each of MU's players will compete in singles actions, with Collins/Trukov forming one tandem and Tehrani/Dykema the other doubles squad.
In addition to the Golden Eagles, other schools competing in the tournament include; Ball State, Butler, Chicago State, DePaul, Illinois State, IPFW, IUPUI and the University of Indianapolis.
Marquette head coach Steve Rodecap played at Ball State from 1992-96, helping the Cardinals to a trio of Mid-American Conference Championship titles (1992-93, 1993-94, 1994-95). The Anderson, Ind., native is in his year 11th year at the helm of the Golden Eagles.
"It's always nice to get back to Muncie and play in an event I look forward to each fall," Rodecap said. "Coach Richards has had a huge influence on me as both a player and a coach and I can only hope to have a comparable career to what he has accomplished."
The tournament will be played at the Cardinal Creek Tennis Center, with the Muncie Northwest YMCA serving as a backup in case of poor weather conditions.
