
Marquette Drops 19-8 Decision to Villanova

MILWAUKEE - The Marquette University women's lacrosse team fell to Villanova, 19-8, Friday evening at Valley Fields in Milwaukee.
The Wildcats (5-3) broke free from a 5-5 tie late in the first half and outscored the Golden Eagles 14-3 to close out the game.
Freshman Hayley Baas led Marquette (2-7) with three goals, while classmate Claire Costanza and sophomore Villanova-transfer Nicole Gleason added a pair of goals.
Villanova midfielder Chelsey Henderson paced the Wildcats with four goals. Maria Bowman and reigning BIG EAST Conference Offensive Player of the Week Jessica Mucci added a pair.
After Villanova scored the game's first two goals, MU scored the next three for its only lead of the game at the 20:59 mark on a Gleason goal.
Although the Wildcats held a 32-27 edge in shots, Marquette held a 16-13 advantage in draw controls.
The Golden Eagles return to action at Valley Fields on Sunday, March 24 against Rutgers at noon.
