No. 8 Marquette Hosts St. John's Saturday

MILWAUKEE -- The No. 8-ranked Marquette University men's soccer (6-2-1, 0-0-1) takes on BIG EAST-opponent St. John's (4-4-3, 1-1-0) Saturday night at 7:05 p.m. Central time at Valley Fields.
In conjunction with the celebration of 50 years of Marquette men's soccer, MU welcomes back men's soccer alumni throughout the program's history to Saturday's match. These former players and coaches will be recognized during halftime.
MU enters Saturday's contest with a program-record seven consecutive shutouts, the longest of such a streak in the BIG?EAST. In their last two matches, the Golden Eagles tied No. 7 Georgetown, 0-0 (2OT) (Oct. 4) in Washington, D.C. and blanked in-state rival Wisconsin, 2-0 (Oct. 1) at Valley Fields.
All-America candidate Charlie Lyon has now extended his scoreless-minutes streak to 718:39 minutes going into Saturday's game against the Red Storm. The last opponent to score on Lyon was Indiana's Michael Riedford in the 32nd minute of MU's last loss, a 1-0 setback to the Hoosiers (Aug. 31) on the opening weekend of the season.
The St. Charlies, Illinois, native has not allowed a goal at home in the last 651:40 minutes. MU has won its last seven matches at "The Valley" dating back to last season, which includes a program-record six-straight shutouts at home.
The Red Storm come to Valley Fields with a 4-4-3, 1-1-0 record in 2014. MU is the third opponent currently ranked in the top 10 St. John's will play in 2014. SJU lost 1-0 to No. 4 Syracuse (Sept. 6) and fell 3-0 to No. 3 Penn State (Aug. 31).
