Marquette Continues USTA/ITA Regional

CHAMPAIGN, Ill.-- The Marquette University women's tennis squad continued play in the USTA/ITA Midwest Regional at Illinois on Saturday. Junior Erin Gebes highlighted the day with an easy 6-3, 6-3 victory over Jade Milton from the host Illini.

Gebes and Ana Pimienta opened the morning in the round of 16 of the main doubles draw, but the duo fell 8-3 to DeSantis and Neihaus from Ohio State.

After Gebes' first round win she was bested by Ana Vladutu from DePaul. After earning a first round bye, Pimienta dropped her match to Michigan State's Lexi Baylis in a tough 2-6, 6-3, 4-6 decision.

Regional play will continue on Sunday morning at 10 a.m. CT.
