Marquette Hosts Loyola Chicago on Monday

Nov. 16, 2014 MILWAUKEE--The Marquette University women's basketball team returns to action Monday, Nov. 17 when it hosts the Loyola-Chicago Ramblers for a 7 p.m. tilt at the Al McGuire Center.The game will be streamed live on GoMarquette.com and broadcast live on Time Warner Cable SportsChannel 32 with Patrick Reed (play-by-play) and Kevin O'Connor (analyst) on the call. The Golden Eagles face a swift turn around after squaring off against Green Bay in their season opener this past Saturday. In its season lidlifter, Marquette was unable to stop Green Bay's persistent offensive attack, and ultimately dropped its first contest of the season, 94-66.Marquette and Green Bay battled back-and-forth for most of the first half, but the Phoenix mounted an 18-5 late and carried their momentum into the second half.
Preseason All-BIG EAST performer, senior Arlesia Morse, paced Marquette with a game-high 16 points. Freshman guard Kenisha Bell was impressive in her first career collegiate appearance, notching 15 points and getting to the free throw line frequently. The veteran front court tandem of Chelsie Butler and Lauren Tibbs contributed nine points and nine boards apiece in the loss.
Loyola Chicago also suffered a setback in its season opener, falling at home to Georgia Tech 92-57. The Ramblers, just as Marquette did in its season opener, took on an offense that seemed to be clicking on all cylinders. Georgia Tech and Green Bay each shot over 45 percent from the field in their respective wins. Simone Law was particularly effective for the Ramblers, leading the squad in points with 17 and rebounds with seven.
This is the 18th all-time meeting between the two squads, with Marquette holding a narrow edge at 9-8, including eight victories in-a-row. Marquette dispatched the Ramblers, 77-61 in late December of 2012. Morse, then a sophomore, poured in a game-high 25 points and snagged 10 rebounds in the Golden Eagles' victory over its Chicago counterpart.
Marquette concludes its season opening two-game homestand when it hosts Loyola-Chicago, and will then travel to ACC institutions Wake Forest and Duke for a pair of road contests this weekend.
