MILWAUKEE- The Marquette University women's basketball team will make the trip down I-94 on Saturday, Dec. 6 to take on in-state rival, the Wisconsin Badgers (1-5) at the Kohl Center in Madison. Tip-off is slated for 1 p.m. Central time.
This will be the finale of a two-game road stretch for the Golden Eagles (2-5) who are still in search of their first victory away from the Al McGuire Center, following a 79-53 loss at Auburn on Dec. 2.
Last time out, senior Arlesia Morse led the team again in points, securing double figures with 13 despite the losing effort. Against the Tigers Kenisha Bell and Tia Elbert each added eight points. The Flint, Michigan native, continues to shoulder the load on the offensive end, averaging 16.0 per contest. Bell, the current BIG EAST Player of the Week, is just behind Morse averaging 15.0 points per game.
The Badgers enter the game with a five-game losing streak after falling 66-54 at Miami in the ACC/Big Ten Challenge. Against the Hurricanes, junior Nicole Bauman and senior Jacki Gulczynski scored 18 points apiece in the loss. Baumann, along with redshirt senior and UConn transfer Michala Johnson, average 12.8 points for the Badgers.
The matchup between the in-state rivals will mark the 22nd meeting between two teams. The Badgers own a 12-9 record in the series, claiming victories in the last two contests. MU's last victory over the Badgers was in 2011, when the squad won 54-52 at the Al McGuire Center.
After Wisconsin, Marquette will return home for four-consecutive games beginning with Northern Kentucky on Monday, Dec. 15 with the tip slated for 7 p.m. CT at the Al McGuire Center.
