MILWAUKEE - The Marquette University men's and women's track and field teams resume the outdoor season on Friday, March 28 at the University of Cincinnati's Oliver Nikoloff Invitational. The meet will be competed at Gettler Stadium and runs from noon Central time Friday through its conclusion at roughly 3:30 p.m. Saturday.
"The team is excited to be back in action this weekend," Marquette head coach Bert Rogers said. "This is the first full-team meet since BIG EAST Indoors. Indoors is fun, but there is something special about getting outdoors."
Events kick off with the women's hammer throw at noon CT on Friday at Coy Field, an event in which senior Kristen Gaffey and junior Samantha Kennedy will compete. Kennedy won the javelin at the same meet last year and picked up her first victory of this outdoor campaign in the hammer by tying her personal best at the USF Invitational on Thursday, March 13.
The men's hammer is scheduled to follow at 2 p.m. CT and will see redshirt junior Bret Hardin, senior Patrick Stuart and freshman Joel McBride compete.
The men's and women's 10,000-meter runs are the lone events slated for the track on Friday with four MU women and two men registered.
Freshman John Krzyszkowski begins action on Saturday at 9 p.m. CT from Coy Field in the javelin. Krzyszkowski broke Marquette's program record to win the event in his first collegiate meet at the USF Invitational and has his eyes set on bigger marks this weekend.
The final field event is slated to take place with the women's high jump at 1:30 pm. CT and track events will run through the women's 4x400-meter relay at 3:24 p.m. CT.
