MILWAUKEE -The Marquette University chapter Student-Athlete Advisory Committee has voted and elected a new executive board for the 2014-15 academic year.
Junior distance runner Haley Loprieno has been elected president. Classmate and teammate Bret Hardin will serve as vice president. Secretary will be junior women's soccer player Maggie Edlebeck, and Dan Mojica, a men's lacrosse redshirt sophomore, will be the new treasurer.
Loprieno has been instrumental to the success of the student-athlete talent show that the committee organizes every year, and has been key in organizing her team for SAAC fundraisers. Loprieno has worked very closely with Career Athletes, a networking company that is partnered with the MU Department of Intercollegiate Athletics
Hardin has been the treasurer of the SAAC for the past two years and is an avid participant.
Edlebeck most recently became involved with the committee as a representative for her squad, and was a key participant in the Marquette Express Toy Drive.
Mojica has been involved with the SAAC since the beginning of the men's lacrosse program at MU. He leads his team in participating in community service projects.
SAAC allows student-athletes to share insights on their athletic experiences at Marquette. It also provides a way for student-athletes to get involved in the community and have a voice within the athletic department.
