There are sure to be plenty of sleepless nights across the greater Milwaukee area on Thursday, as the Session I Day campers anxiously prepare for the pinnacle of the week-long event, Championship Friday.
The life-changing day has produced a number of summer camp legends, including Hall of Fame selections and other honored participants. Champions will be crowned in both individual and team action, with tournaments deciding the winner in each of the four divisions. The squads have been battling all week long for the valuable postseason seeding, with Cleveland State, Villanova, Lakers and Heat earning the No. 1 seed in each league.
Thursday's Teammate of the Day Award winners were Matt Handal (Milwaukee), Sawyer Pothast (Bucks), Deshawn Griggs (Spurs) and Bryan Terry (Creighton). The "Mr. Stations" honorees were Aaron Brown (UIC), Henry Kucha (Pacers), Lucas Finnessy (Thunder) and Seth Butzlaff (MU).
CAMP STORE: Check out the official Camp Store on the main concourse level of the Al McGuire Center. Food, drinks and MU gear will be available. Campers will be able to purchase "camp cash cards" for various dollar amounts so they don't have to worry about having cash. The "Camp Combo" returns and features two items for special discounted prices only for campers.
ATHLETICS BBQ: Join the men's basketball players and staff for the Marquette Athletics BBQ on Tuesday, July 1 at Marquette's Central Mall (behind Raynor Library) from 5-8 p.m. Cost is $15 per person (children 6-and-under are free). For more information call Special Events at (414) 288-7431.
