The Marquette University women's basketball team continues a four-game road trip on Monday as the squad travels to South Dakota. The game will tip at 7 p.m. Central time and can be viewed at goyotes.com.
Marquette fell at Northern Kentucky on Saturday, 83-78 as another late, fourth quarter rally fell short of a victory. Natisha Hiedeman buried a triple to give the Golden Eagles a 77-76 lead, but the Norse connected on five free throws, which helped them secure the win. Allazia Blockton led the squad with a career-high 22 points, while Hiedeman added 17 to MU's tally.
Both Marquette and South Dakota will be looking for the first victory of the season on Monday as each school brings an 0-3 record into the game.
The Coyotes dropped a narrow 84-81 overtime decision at Kansas State on Thursday evening. South Dakots connected on 17 three-point shots and Nicole Seekamp was two rebounds shy of a triple-double as she tallied 20 points, 10 assists, and eight rebounds. Caitlin Duffy posted a team-high 21 points, shooting 7-for-13 beyond the arc. She added six rebounds and five assists.
This is just the second all-time meeting between the programs. South Dakota pulled out a 69-65 victory in Milwaukee last season just after Thanksgiving.
Following the trip to South Dakota, Marquette will head down to Florida to compete in the FIU Thanksgiving Tournament. The Golden Eagles open against host, FIU on Friday, Nov. 27.
