The Marquette University men's tennis team (1-4) dropped at 6-1 non-league decision at Iowa (4-1) Friday night.
Marquette claimed the first set in four of the six singles matchups, but only Kristiyan Trukov was able to earn a win at the No. 6 spot. Senior Vukasin Teofanovic dropped a tough 7-6, 6-2 decision against No. 116 Matt Hagan at No. 1.
Iowa opened the match by claiming the valuable doubles point. The Hawkeyes posted a 6-2 win at the No. 3 position and earned the point following a 6-2 decision at No. 1 thanks to the No. 31 tandem of Matt Hagan and Dominic Patrick.
The Golden Eagles return to action when the squad opens a three-match homestand on Feb. 14 at the Helfaer Tennis Stadium. MU will face both Toledo and South Dakota State that afternoon in non-conference action.
