MILWAUKEE - Marquette Athletics, in partnership with the Diederich College of Communication's ADPR 4953 class, announces a Blue and Gold Scholarship Fund initiative aimed at providing international travel opportunities to MU's different athletic programs.
"International travel and study abroad opportunities are not always available to our student-athletes because of the unique nature of their time commitments," Marquette vice president and director of athletics Bill Scholl said. "We are committed to providing the most enriching experiences to our student-athletes and the opportunity to experience other cultures while team building is something we wish to continue to provide."
The women's basketball team took a European trip during the summer of 2014 and the men's basketball program is slated to travel to France and Italy this August.
The Indiegogo campaign runs from April 9-30 and relies on fan support through social media. The campaign is led by a pair of current Marquette student-athletes in a class taught by Tim Cigelske, social media director at Marquette University.
Fans are asked to share the page (go.mu.edu/muforeign) on social media throughout the duration of the campaign.
