
Marquette Opens Day 1 at Hoosier Classic

BLOOMINGTON, Ind.--The Marquette University women's tennis team continued fall action on Friday with the first day day of the Hoosier Classic hosted by Indiana University. The Golden Eagles enjoyed playing outside under sunny skies and nice weather.
Erin Gebes and Silvia Ambrosio continued their doubles momentum from last weekend's play and earned an easy 6-1 victory over Cincinnati. The duo faltered in the second doubles match of the day dropping a 6-2 decision to the host Hoosiers.
Gebes advanced in Flight 1 of singles play with a well-earned 6-2, 4-6, 1-0 (4) victory over Olivia Myers from Western Michigan. Ambrosio also advanced in the same flight moving past IU's Sarah McLean, 6-4, 6-4.
In Flight 2 Paula Tormos Sanchez earned a 6-3, 1-6, 1-0 (4) victory over Cleveland State, and Courtney Hebard won her first match in Flight 3, 6-1, 7-6 over Cincinnati. Aleeza Kanner was also victorious with a 6-0, 2-6, 1-0 (2) decision over Cincinnati in Flight 4.
Marquette will continue play with both doubles and singles matches beginning Saturday morning.
