The Marquette University men's tennis team (2-2) concluded its three-match weekend with a 5-0 setback to VCU (5-1) Sunday afternoon at the IU Tennis Center in Bloomington, Ind.
The Golden Eagles defeated South Dakota State 7-0 Friday night at home before falling 4-0 at No. 53 Indiana Saturday evening.
VCU claimed two of the doubles matchups to secure the valuable doubles point before earning straight-set victories in four of the singles contests. MU's singles lineup didn't include No. 1 player Daniel Fernandez, who only saw action in doubles on Sunday.
MU returns to action on Feb. 6 when the team faces Bethune-Cookman in Ft. Myers, Fla.
