Marquette Opens Play At Illinois State

The Marquette University men's tennis team opened play at the Illinois State Redbird Invitational Saturday morning with singles and doubles competition in Normal, Ill.
Four players were in action for Marquette against teams from ISU, Eastern Illinois and the University of Northwestern Ohio.
After the tandem of Andre Romanello and Scott Christian claimed a doubles win, the remainder of the day's action focused on singles. Romanello battled for a three-set win over EIU's Freddie O'Brien, 6-3, 4-6, 6-4 and freshman Brandon Shanklin claimed a quick 6-0, 6-0 decision over Grant Reiman of EIU.
Also earning a win was freshman Alexander Warstler, who downed Trent Reiman of EIU 6-4, 7-6.
