Golden Eagles Drop 5-2 Match vs. Portland

The Marquette University men's tennis team (8-9) wrapped up its six-match road swing with a 5-2 loss against Portland (10-6) Sunday afternoon in non-conference action in San Diego, Calif.
Portland opened the match by claiming the doubles point with wins at the No. 1 and No. 2 positions. The Pilots were also able to claim four singles matchups to secure the team victory. Freshman Alvaro Verdu earned a 6-4, 7-5 decision at the No. 2 spot and junior Nick Dykema rallied for a 2-6, 6-1, 7-5 win at the No. 3 spot.
The Golden Eagles return to action on April 1 at 3 p.m. when the team hosts Creighton for the first home match in almost a month at Helfaer Tennis Stadium.
