MTEN Falls 4-3 To Creighton In Home Finale

Roegner claims straight-set win at No. 1 singles and doubles in final home match
The Marquette University men's tennis team wrapped up the home portion of its 2025-26 regular season wih a 4-3 loss against Creighton at Sprovieri Tennis Complex Friday on Senior Night.

Prior to the match, the Golden Eagles honored the three members of its senior class – Blake Roegner, Ivan Vazquez and Teddy Wong. The team also recognized manager Emmett Wilson for his dedication to the program.

Creighton opened the match by claiming the valuable doubles point in dramatic fashion. After the teams split at the top-two positions, the Bluejays were able to rally for a 7-6 victory at No. 3, 13-11 in the breaker. Both duos had multiple match points before finally closing out the win.

The momentum for the Bluejays continued into singles action, with Creighton moving ahead 2-0 after a win at No. 2 singles. Roegner, playing in his final home match, got MU on the board to close the gap to 2-1 with a straight-set victory at No. 1.

Clayton Anderson didn't win a game in the first set, but found his footing in the second set and ended up rallying for a 0-6, 6-3 6-2 victory at No. 3 to tie the score at 2-2.

Creighton moved ahead for good with a three-set win at No. 4, securing the team victory with a straight-set decision at No. 5.
