
Marquette Closes Regular Season at DePaul

MILWAUKEE--The Marquette women's volleyball team heads to DePaul for the final regular season tilt of the year Saturday, Nov. 18 at 1 p.m. Central time.
The match will air live on the BIG EAST Digital Network presented by SoFi with Peter Ferrari on the call from McGrath-Phillips Arena.
The Golden Eagles (20-8, 14-3) are coming off a 2-0 weekend that saw them sweep Georgetown and best Villanova in a five-set marathon. With these wins, Marquette clinched the No. 2 seed in the BIG EAST Tournament it will host Nov. 24-25.
For her strong play in last weekend's action, junior transfer Anna Haak landed on the weekly honor roll after setting a career-high in kills (25) and matching her career total in digs (23) for her fifth double-double of the season in the win versus Villanova. Sophomore Allie Barber also had a strong showing against the Wildcats, racking up 25 kills and four digs.
Marquette players continue to lead the BIG EAST and rank in the top tier of the NCAA in a handful of categories. Barber averages 4.87 kills/set, good for first in the conference and fifth in the nation. Sophomore Lauren Speckman continues to pace the BIG EAST with 11.86 assists/set, putting her at seventh in the country.
The Blue Demons (8-21, 2-15) have lost their last eight matches dating back to Oct. 15. DePaul's last victory came Oct. 14 in a five-set win over Georgetown. In their previous match-up, the Golden Eagles swept the Blue Demons 3-0. Barber led the way in the win with 20 kills and Haak added 11 to go with seven digs. Starting setter Lauren Speckman missed the last match versus DePaul and freshman Sarah Rose filled the spot with 41 assists and 15 digs.
The Golden Eagles sit in second place in the conference, one match behind Creighton and three in front of third-place Butler. Following this match-up with DePaul, Marquette will attempt to win the conference title on its home floor beginning with the semifinals, Nov. 24 at 2:30 p.m. CT, also on BEDN.
