
No. 16/19 MU Hosts Loyola Maryland in Homeopener

MILWAUKEE -- The No. 16/19 Marquette University women's basketball team tips off in its home opener against Loyola Maryland on Sunday, Nov. 19 at 3 p.m. Central time at the Al McGuire Center.
The game will be produced by the Marquette Wire and will be streamed for free on gomarquette.com or on College Sports Live, viewed through the College Sports Live app, available for iOS through the App Store or for Android devices on Google Play.
The Golden Eagles (0-1) are coming off a single-point loss to New Mexico, 88-87, in Monday night's road battle. Freshman Lauren Van Kleunen led MU with 23 points in her collegiate debut, including 5-for-10 shooting from beyond the arc. Junior Allazia Blockton tallied 20 points with seven board and five assists.
The Greyhounds (1-2) took down Cornell 78-63 in their season opener (Nov. 10), but fell 80-72 to George Mason (Nov. 14). On Thursday, Loyola fell to BIG EAST foe Georgetown, 72-54 and was led by Stephanie Karcz with 17 points. Karcz currently leads the team in scoring with 18.0 points per game, and grabs 5.3 rebounds per contest.
The Greyhounds were picked ninth in the preseason Patriot League Poll, while guard Bri Betz-White was selected to the preseason All-Patriot League Squad after being selected to last season's first team All-Patriot League.
This is the first meeting between the two programs.
Following Sunday's matchup, Marquette will head south of the border for the Cancun Challenge. The Thanksgiving tournament includes a matchup against perennial powerhouse No. 13/18 Tennessee on Nov. 23 at 5:30 p.m. CT, followed by Montana on Nov. 24 at 8 p.m. CT.
