
Lacrosse takes scrimmage 13-7 over HPU

MILWAUKEE - The Marquette University men's lacrosse team hosted the first intercollegiate contest at the new indoor facility at Valley Fields on Friday morning with a 13-7 scrimmage victory over High Point.
All-American Ryan McNamara led the way for the Golden Eagles with three goals, while midfielders Tanner Thomson, John Wagner and Andy DeMichiei each scored twice. Senior Grant Preisler started on attack and registered a game-high four points with three assists and a tally of his own.
Zachary Melillo went 6-of-12 at the face-off X, while classmate Owen Weselak was 5-of-8 and freshman Jared Hershman was 2-of-3. Noah Joseph led MU with five ground balls on the wing and Brendon Connolly picked up three ground balls and caused a pair of turnovers, as did Joseph.
Chris Young and Dallas Bridle each scored three times for the Panthers, who were out-shot 36-14 by Marquette on the day.
The Golden Eagles resume preseason action on Saturday, Feb. 11 against Penn and cross-town NCAA Division III foe MSOE.
