MILWAUKEE - Marquette University freshman Max McClelland will compete in the 3,000-meter steeplechase at the USA Track & Field Junior National Championships hosted by Sacramento State University on Saturday, June 24.
A native of Powell, Ohio, McClelland enjoyed a strong freshman campaign for the Golden Eagles in 2017. He qualified for the USATF Junior National Championships thanks to a career-best effort at the BIG EAST Outdoor Championships in May, where he took ninth place in the 3,000-meter steeplechase with a time of 9:28.26.
McClelland will compete against 10 other qualifiers in Saturday's race, which is scheduled for a 7:20 Central time start. The USATF will host a live webcast via USATF.org.
Fellow freshman Daniel Armstrong also qualified for this weekend's event, but is unable to compete due to injury.
