Women's XC Adds Eight Newcomers for 2017 Season

MILWAUKEE - The Marquette University women's track and field team has announced today its 14-member incoming class ahead of the 2017-18 season in which 11th-year head coach Bert Rogers and his staff guides a squad that is the reigning back-to-back BIG EAST Conference indoor and outdoor team champions.

"This is a solid group that will really help the team in our quest to three-peat both indoors and outdoors in the BIG EAST," Rogers said. "We have some real difference-makers in this year's class and I am excited to get everyone here and started this fall."

The class includes members from five states, including seven from Wisconsin, four from Illinois, and one each from Missouri, Minnesota and Ohio. All event areas are represented with a thrower, a hurdler, two jumpers, two pole vaulters and eight distance athletes, who are also ready to contribute for the cross country team this fall under the direction of 11th-year head coach Mike Nelson.

All 14 student-athletes will be eligible immediately and ready to compete for a team that boasted 30 All-BIG EAST honorees and 10 individual conference champions last year, combined.
