
Marquette Opens with Success at Two Competitions

MILWAUKEE--The Marquette women's tennis team had successful opening campaigns at both locations of play for the weekend with two players at the Milwaukee Tennis Classic and the remainder of the squad competing at the Minnesota Gopher Invite.
In Minneapolis, sophomore transfer Milica Novakovic made her first appearance in the Blue and Gold as she teamed with Lesley Foe for three double wins taking the first two matches with ease, 6-2 and topping their SDSU opponent, 6-4 in the final match of the day.
Isabella Franks and freshman Andrea Amortegui fell in their first doubles match, 7-5, but rebounded to take a swift 6-1 decision over USD's duo.
In singles action Novakovic dropped her first match, 6-1, 6-2, but was able to defeat Drake's Elizaveta Petushkova, 6-3, 6-0 and will face Carmen Palumbo from UND on Saturday.
Marquette continues play in both sites throughout the weekend.
