Thumb Surgery Sidelines Greg Elliott

Sophomore guard expected to miss 8-12 weeks
Sophomore guard Greg Elliott of the Marquette University men's basketball team underwent successful surgery Wednesday afternoon, head coach Steve Wojciechowski announced.
Elliott's surgery repaired a torn ligament in his left thumb (typical recovery time is 8-12 weeks), which he injured in practice on Oct. 5. He suffered an injury to the same thumb in 2017 that didn't necessitate surgery.
"We are disappointed for Greg, especially knowing how hard he worked in the offseason to prepare for his sophomore year," Wojciechowski said. "We are confident he will apply his tremendous work ethic to his rehabilitation process and get back on the court soon."
The Detroit, Michigan native played in all 35 games for MU in 2017-18, making four starts, and averaged 4.5 points and 2.3 rebounds per game. He finished third on the team in blocked shots (24).
