Marquette Heads To ITA Midwest Regional

Eight players representing MU at annual event
The Marquette University men's tennis team continues the fall portion of its 2018-19 campaign this week at the ITA Midwest Regional, hosted by the University of Notre Dame.
The fighting Irish will host singles and doubles action at the Eck Tennis Pavilion and the Lakeland Athletic Club in Niles, Michigan.
The Golden Eagles will be represented by eight individuals at the event, in both singles and doubles competition. Greg Anderson, Luis Heredia Gomez, Julian Robinson, Francisco San Andres and Brandon Shanklin have all been placed in the qualifying draw. Brett Meyers, Luke Smrek and Alvaro Verdu earned invitations to the main draw.
Marquette will also feature a trio of doubles teams.

ITA Midwest Regional
- This year, the Irish host the tournament and play will take place at the Eck Tennis Pavilion in Notre Dame, Indiana and Lakeland Athletic Club in Niles, Michigan.
- This year the field will consist of 20 teams from around the Midwest.
- Twelve regional tournaments will take place over the course of the next week at the Division I level.
- Regional doubles and singles champions and finalists will qualify for the Oracle ITA National Fall Championships in Arizona next month.
- SIngles matches begin at 5 p.m. ET Wednesday, October 17 with the pre-qualifying round.
- Singles matches will continue Thursday and Friday before doubles play starts Friday afternoon.
- There will be three rounds of qualifying singles with the final 8 qualifying for the main singles draw of 64 players.
- The Main Singles Draw begins at 8 a.m. on Saturday, followed by the quarterfinal doubles matchups.
- There is one Main Draw for doubles including all participating doubles teams. Doubles will be played as an 8-game prosets for the tournament.
- The tournament will conclude on Monday, with the semifinals and final round of singles competition followed by the doubles finals.
