The Golden Eagles compiled a 3.17 team GPA during the 2017-18 academic year
KANSAS CITY, Mo. – United Soccer Coaches announced its Team Academic Award recipients for the 2017-18 academic year and Marquette men's soccer has been recognized for the 10th consecutive season.
Each year, the organization honors college programs for their exemplary performance in the classroom that meet or exceed a 3.0 grade point average (on a 4.0 scale). A total of 817 soccer teams (308 men, 509 women) earned the award during the 2017-18 academic season.
Of that number, only 210 had both their men's and women's programs recognized and Marquette fell into that category for the 10th-straight year as well.
Under the direction of head coach Louis Bennett, the Golden Eagle men made the list with a 3.17 team GPA.
Last year, then-sophomore Luka Prpa was named a CoSIDA Academic All-America Third Team selection, becoming the sixth player in program history to receive that distinction.
United Soccer Coaches is the world's largest soccer coaches' organization, with a goal of educating coaches, encouraging excellence and serving the soccer community.
