
Golden Eagles off to A Strong Start at Northwestern

Weekend tourney opened with singles and doubles matches
EVANSTON, Ill.-- The Marquette women's tennis team opened play at the 2018 Wildcat Invitational on Friday, picking up some strong wins in both doubles and singles competition.Â
Sophomore Natalija Popovic opened the day with a win in a 6-1, 4-6, 11-9 effort over Ogut from the host Wildcats in the singles E Draw, while Elisabeth Desmarais fought back to earn a 2-6, 7-6, 10-7 victory over Michigan.
In doubles, Popovic continued her strong start as she joined Fleur Eggink for a 6-4 win over the doubles squad from Michigan and Desmarais teamed with Isabella Franks for a 6-3 win over a squad from Utah.
The Golden Eagles continue competition at Northwestern beginning Saturday morning.Â
