Junior Luka Prpa earns academic all-district honors for the second time in his career
MILWAUKEE – Junior midfielder Luka Prpa has been named to the 2018 Google Cloud Academic All-District® Men's Soccer Team for the second time in his career. This marks the sixth time in the past seven years that a Marquette player has earned this distinction and the second-year in a row for Prpa.
Prpa, who earned CoSIDA Academic All-American® honors last season after being named to the third team, is eligible once again for All-American status. As an all-district honoree, he will now be placed on the All-American ballot. Voting begins Nov. 13.
The Wind Lake, Wisconsin, native was one of nine selections to the District 6 men's soccer team this year. He currently boasts a 3.94 GPA as a biomedical sciences major at Marquette.
Prpa was recently named an All-BIG EAST honoree for the third-straight season, collecting first team accolades for the first time. He leads the Golden Eagles with 18 points on six goals and six assists so far in 2018. In 50 career games played (all starts), he has accumulated 51 points (17 goals, 17 assists).
The Golden Eagles advanced to Sunday's BIG EAST Championship final after getting by top-seeded Creighton on the road on Wednesday. Prpa accounted for the tying goal in regulation before Marquette prevailed in a penalty kick shootout for the second-straight game, outlasting Creighton, 10-9, in 12 rounds in the semifinal following a 7-6 triumph in nine rounds over Xavier in the quarterfinal.
Sunday's final against second-seeded and 19th-ranked Georgetown is scheduled for a 1:07 p.m. Central time start and will be televised on FS2.
